Permian Monsters, the first travelling exhibition of its kind, presents visitors with a collection of life models, interactive activities and a collection of artworks by Julius Csotonyi. csotonyi.com

The exhibition will provide visitors with an insight into the following topics and answer the following questions:
•  The Permian: How long ago? What was the planet like during the Permian? Climate and arrangement of continents, making comparisons to planet today.
• The animals that lived during this time: What animals lived? What were their social behaviours? How did they evolve?
•  The Permian extinction: What caused it? Which animals died and which survived? How did they survive? What happen next?

The exhibition storyline is based into animal groups and is divided into the following sections:

    1. Introduction
    2. Marine Life
    3. Amphibians
    4. Reptiles
    5. The Great Dying
    6. The Survivors

Exhibition Design

The exhibition includes the following components and design elements:

•  Use of bright colours
•  Artwork to illustrate scenes or ‘windows' into Permian life
•  Use of interactive computer stations and video
•  Inclusion of digpits for kids to dig for fossil bones
•  Interactive stations, touch fossils (casts), question & answers
•  Dioramas with life models
•  Use of plants from the Permian (artificial plants)
•  A kid-friendly approach

Target audiences

The exhibition is designed to appeal directly to:
•  Families
•  Dinosaur enthusiasts
•  Educational groups (school groups, etc)

Children's interest and school curricula have framed the exhibition approach. With these in mind, all exhibition text keeps scientific terms and jargon to a minimum.
